PSK31 OPERATING SCREEN DISPLAY

This is a copy of an active DigiPan vers 1.6d PSK31 screen.  The window descriptions were added by W1PY.   This is one great digital mode that occupies a very narrow band.  The signals in the blue waterfall display are all located within a 2.5 KHz bandwidth.  This is the bandwidth required for one SSB signal.  It is possible to communicate keyboard to keyboard with hams around the world using 20 to 30 watts and a simple inverted-V antenna.  That’s what I use and in a few weeks I have worked Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Europe, Asia, Africa, etc.  (W1PY).   It’s a QRPer’s dream mode.  At these power levels TV and other RFI are kept to a mininum.   If you’re interested in finding out more about PSK31, click on the following URL:

Here you will find links to all the free PSK31 software; i.e, DigiPan 1.6d and several others.  You will also find all the information you will ever need to start using this mode.   I’ve tried several of the software packages but I keep coming back to DigiPan.  It’s simple to use and has everything a PSK31 user needs.  For hardware, all you need is an HF transceiver, a soundcard in your computer, and two audio cables to feed audio to and from the mic input and speaker output on your rig.  But all that is explained in info that comes with the software help file.  Try it, you’ll like it!  It puts some fun back into the HF bands (subjective opinion, W1PY).
